As a felon I felt less than as if my voice didn’t matter. I figured people saw me as a misfit and my voice was invalid and that I wouldn’t be heard anyway. After spending months at the capital sharing my experience as a felon and someone hoping to vote, things began to change. I realized that no matter what I have gone through, or the things I may have done credible people were willing to listen and validate that I in fact have a voice and a right to be heard. People were willing to stand up for someone like me which empowered me to want to help others.
