Coralie Maldonado

Coralie Maldonado is a junior at North St.Paul High School, a member of the Minnesota Youth Council as well as the Youth Leadership Council. What inspired her to be politically engaged was how much she cared about who our leaders are and how they plan to run our country.

I realized how important it was to participate in things such as voting and efforts to challenge issues affecting our communities, otherwise I wouldn't have any right to complain about who's in office or problems in my community.

She finds power in youth voices through protests, even though youth are ignored as individuals,

as a group we force those in power to pay attention to us; their decisions usually effect us most so pressing the opinions of actual youth into their decision is critical. We have to live with their choices, not them.
