Wokie Freeman

Wokie C. Freeman is the Assistant Executive Director and Director of Operations & Programs for the University of Minnesota Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC). She holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree and has held several positions in the hospitality and insurance industries. Outside of her University career, Wokie has spent a significant amount of time developing and implementing strategies to increase access to information and resources in underrepresented and underserved communities. Originally from Liberia, West Africa, she served as the Founding Director of Public Affairs & Engagement for African Career, Education & Resource, Inc. (ACER). Wokie has volunteered with Liberian Women's Initiatives - MN; and participated on the Osseo Area Schools Community Collaboration Council and North Hennepin Community College Advisory Board. She also served on the Charter Commission for the City of Brooklyn Park and has been actively involved in the City's strategic planning and engagement efforts. Wokie currently sits on the boards of Hope United Community Development Corporation and Minnesota Peace-building Leadership Institute.
