Grassroots Organizing and Voting Rights

Similar to other marginalized peoples, it took some time for Latinx communities to develop the resources and leadership to organize collectively for more social and political rights. One exception to the widespread marginalization of Latinxs was found in New Mexico, which was in a unique position because it was majority Mexican American. Latinxs saw much greater political representation here than in the other states and territories into the 20th century.
